Art, craft, dance, drama, film, photography tutors needed

Club Creative has just won a contract to deliver a programme of creative activity for a Redcar & Cleveland Secondary school. The weekly full day sessions will aim to engage to most disengaged Y10 & Y11 students. Beginning with a series of taster workshops in the summer term, there will be a full programme of activity starting in September.

We require creative practitioners with experience of working with hard to reach young people. The overall aim is to engage, inspire, build confidence and self esteem whilst learning new creative skills. There should be an enterprise agenda built in to each activity.

Please get in touch if you would like to more information.

Thanks,

Neil

Enterprise Activities

Club Creative is delighted to be providing Enterprise Workshops for young people attending Stockton Riverside College. Stockton Borough Council Regeneration and Economic Development department have enlisted our help in delivering two areas of enterprise activity.

The first is working with a group of 18 year olds to create jewellery and accessories which will be sold at Stockton Market. The difference is that these accessories have been made from old computer components and are completely recycled! Pics are here

The second activity is working with a group of 14-15yr olds to learn the basics of digital photography. The group will learn basic techniques then create their own abstract photographs using professional standard equipment. The images will be printed and mounted in recycled frames for sale at Stockton Market. Images will follow in due course.

If you would like to know how Club Creative can help your organisation deliver Alternative Provision, Enterprise Activities or any other type of creative activity, please get in touch.

Artist wanted for school murals project

Club Creative is looking for an artist (or artists) to produce a minimum of three murals to be installed in a primary school canteen in Yarm, Teesside, England (NOT YARM PRIMARY SCHOOL). The murals will be designed with pupils in a series of workshops to take place in the summer term.

The school have been successful in obtaining Canteen Rescue funding from the School Food Trust and the object is to transform the canteen’s appearance and encourage pupls to take up school meals and in particular healthy school meal options. The pupils have already explored some design themes during the application process and these themes should be incorporated by the artist into the finished murals.

The key deliverable are: Fully redecorate all walls within the dining space with an artistic impression of Yarm High Street, to incorporate healthy food and school messages. Specific messages and themes will be discussed once an initial proposal has been accepted.

The murals should be both 2D and 3D and be sturdy enough to last many years in the busy canteen environment. The murals should be created on wall mountable plywood or other suitable material to enable the school to take them down safely for decorating purposes.

The budget for the project including a minimum of 6 workshop days, materials, design preparation, travel and installation is £3500.

Please use the contact form to express your interest. Once you receive a reply please email a proposal including relevant experience and examples of previous work in no more than 500 words, an up to date CV, and most up to date CRB number, issue date and awarding body by Friday 22 April for the attention of Neil Walker, Club Creative.

Additional info:

Approximate widths as follows:

Mural 1 : 5 meters width

Mural 2 : Corner mural 1.5 meters + adjoining wall 3.5 meters

Mural 3 : Corner mural 1 metre + adjoining wall 1 metre.

Creative Industries Taster Event – Saltburn-by-the-Sea

Club Creative has been asked by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council to manage a two day event in the Easter Holidays taking place on the beach and foreshore of Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

The aim will be to engage the general public in fun, creative workshops which are designed to stimulate interest in the Creative Industries development in Redcar & Cleveland. The workshops will be lead by Saltburn based professional artists, thus re-enforcing the message that it is possible to be a self employed creative professional within the borough.

Taking place on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 April between 11am-3pm, the event will include a range of FREE creative taster workshops for children and families in the following areas:

  • Graffiti Art
  • Introduction to Digital Photography
  • Sand Sculpture/Mosaic/Mural (depending on the tide and weather)
  • Sketching

The workshops will take place on the beach, foreshore and in the Community Room in the Sea Front Building.  Using Saltburn’s natural and man made features such as the pier, cliff lift and Huntcliff as subject matter, young participants will be taught the basics of each discipline by professional artists who reside in Redcar and Cleveland.

The event hopes to tie in with the many plans for Saltburns 150th anniversay, and also act as a sign post to the exciting developments taking place in Redcar, in particular the Creative Hub which will host up and coming creative businesses. Visitors to the town over Easter should also take in the brilliant Time and Tide exhibition featuring panoramic photographs of all the pleasure piers in Britain which is currently being exhibited on Saltburn pier.

Watch this space for details of the artists who will be involved.

UPDATE – Artists announced:

Glen Humphrey – Photography

Local award winning photographer Glenn Humphrey will be giving an informal introduction to composing your digital images. This free event is for anyone that can hold a camera and is seeking guidance and practical advice on improving their photographic skills. Bring your compact camera or mobile phone with camera. These are all drop in sessions however, if you would like to book a place please get in touch.

Tracey Potter - Sketching

We will be based at the Seafront Building on the Lower Promenade at Saltburn. From this vantage point the workshop will be an exercise in observing our surroundings and unleashing your creativity. The sketching workshop with professional artist Tracey Potter is an opportunity to experiment with pencils and paints! Some of the themes include the beach, foreshore and landscapes, or buildings and architectural details. The key theme of the day is to have fun, loosen up and enjoy being creative.

All materials will be provided and each session will last for approximately 45 minutes. Children and adults are welcome.

Clare Hansford – Graffiti Art

Create a graffiti sampler with local artist Clare Hansford. Clare will show you how to use a variety of textures and painting techniques to create your own unique design inspired by graffiti art from all around the world. Drop in, have some fun, and make your own colourful design that you can take home.

Derek Mosey and Helen Gaunt – Mosaic

Help Helen and Derek create a large scale mosaic which will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the railway arriving in Saltburn. The mosaic will be the first of several pieces that will be installed on the walls of Sainsburies in Saltburn. This is your chance to create public art, made by the public, for the public!

The BrU

Look out for these incredibly talented young acoustic musicians who will be performing around the seafront area across both days. They are a group of young people between 14 and 16 years old who are involved in a project called Can U? ( a CoMusica project ) based in Redcar. They play guitar ukulele and cahon and anything else they can lay their hands on and sing a variety of songs from Cee Lo green to Paulo Nutini as well as some of their own stuff.

Polaroid scans by particpants of Glen Humphrey’s photography workshops. So nostalgic…
