We invited all parents of Secondary and 6th Form students to our afternoon Cinematic showing of the best of our Arts College work from the last three years, along with Governors and Friends of the school, including ex-students. .

Kiltonthorpe Film-maker and Animators Adam Reamswood and Ben Hopkinson presented an impressive show, supported by Lauren Henderson, Arts Facilitator.

The 40 minute programme of film clips, movies, animations and videos of activities, followed a packed morning where students attended workshops within school. Classes ranged from Physical Theatre and Stage combat , Circus skills, Photography, Drumming, Batik, Textiles, Art and Craft, Multi-sensory experience with Head massage and Face Painting.

It was a fabulous day, being able to share our successes with the students, staff, artists and practitioners who have featured highly in our Arts Programmes, over the years.

The event was planned by Director of Specialism, Kate Watson and organised by Neil Walker of Club Creative, (neil@club-creative.co.uk) with his team of student Event organisers.

Step Up 7 Transition Days 2011

Another great week in Lady Lumley’s School in Pickering and Ryedale in Nawton. Funded with the last of the Extended School budget (another victim of the cuts) these fantastic creative days allow Y6 pupils ‘stepping up’ to Y7 secondary schools the opportunity to have fun, make new friends and feel more confident about the coming academic year.

Activities provided by Club Creative included Graffiti Art, Carnival Drumming, Stage Combat and Bollywood dance. Photos and a short film will be uploaded soon so please keep checking back.

If you are sad to see the demise of Extened Schools funding and co-ordinators please feel free to leave your comments.

Step Up 7 in Pickering & Malton was a two week summer school for Y6 pupils held in their new secondary schools. Four creative workshops each day made for a fun packed two weeks with 12 Club Creative staff working each day.

In Saltburn artists Derek Mosey and Helen Gaunt created two large mosaics that are now hung in the main entrance and main corridor of the new school to welcome all vistitors. They look amazing. These pics are work in progress.

More summer updates

Hi again, our Shakin Summer drama summer school got off to a great start with a small but perfectly formed group of children at Layfield School in Yarm on Monday. The children will learn drama techniques, develop the script and dialogue, make costumes and design the set then perform for family and friends at the end of the week.

The mosaic project at Saltburn Learning Campus concludes today. A group of children from the primary and secondary school have been working with two artists to produce two mosaics which will be hung in the entrance and in the main entrance corridor to act as a welcome to the school. We can’t wait to see the results.

As previously mentioned, the Club Creative 2010/11 academic year wall planners are ready to be despatched. If you would like to order one, or your organisation would like a bulk order, please get in touch. A1 and in full colour, They make a much more  attractive calendar than your standard office wall chart!

Summer activity update

Hi all. All the summer activity is going incredibly well. There are still places on the ‘Shakin Shakespeare’ summer school next week so please get in touch if you are interested.

By tomorrow we will have worked with 400 children at the Step Up 7 Transition Days in Pickering & Malton. We’ve employed 4 artists, 8 assistants and a co-ordinator every day and a huge thanks goes out to them for all their hard work and enthusiasm. Look out for images and video of this fantastic multi arts summer school soon.

The workshops for Guisborough Police have been a huge success, enabling young people to engage with positive activity and learn new creative skills whilst helping to reduce the  instances of anti social behaviour. Graffiti Art has been the most popular to date!

Kilton Thorpe Special School arts summer school went really well with a wide range of workshops and activities. We look forward to resuming our excellent working relationship with film making workshops in September.

Workshops for Extended Schools in Great Ayton, Northallerton and Filey have been going OK, however numbers seemed low across the board in Filey and Northallerton. Extended Schools are looking into their publicity for next time.

Look out for news on Club Creative Merchandise coming soon!!
